ALA: NEW PLANT OPENED AT THE SUBSIDIARY SINTERSA IN SEVILLE, A KEY REGION IN THE EUROPEAN AEROSPACE SECTOR

THE PLANT EXTENDS OVER A TOTAL SURFACE AREA OF 5,000 SQ.M. AND IS HOME TO AN AREA DEDICATED TO PRODUCTION AND ANOTHER TO WAREHOUSING

Naples, 27th June 2024 – ALA S.p.A. (EGM: ALA), leader in Italy and a main global player in the offer of integrated logistics services and distribution of products and components for the aerospace industry in both the civil and defence sectors (“Aerospace & Defence”), listed on the Euronext Growth Milan Market managed by Borsa Italiana, informs of the opening of a new plant by its Spanish subsidiary SCP SINTERSA, in Seville, the capital of Andalusia, in the south of Spain.

The SCP SINTERSA Group, which ALA acquired in September 2022, works in the distribution of electronic components and in the design, industrialisation and manufacture of electric interconnection systems for aerospace, defence, railway and industrial applications. The new plant in Seville, which has a total surface area of 5,000 square meters, of which 3,000 dedicated to manufacture and production and 2,000 to warehousing, will allow ALA to further consolidate its presence on the market and to respond effectively to the growing demand for products and services for the aerospace and defence industry.

The opening of the new plant is an important step in the Group’s international expansion strategy and is motivated by the need to enlarge the Group’s production capacity, in order to satisfy growing market demands. In particular, the area of Andalusia is characterised by the presence of major players and by increasing demand for important aeronautical and defence programs. In addition, Seville, the regional capital, together with Toulouse in France and Hamburg in Germany, is one of the main aerospace centres in Europe and is a strategic area for the sector.

Fulvio Scannapieco, Chairman of ALA, the company which controls SCP SINTERSA, commented: “The opening of the new SCP SINTERSA plant in Seville is a further step forward in our strategic plan to expand and renew the Group’s premises and warehouses in our key markets. Just to mention the most recent ones, there are the new headquarters in Esher and the new sales office in Derby for the United Kingdom, the new German headquarters in Hamburg, and the logistics hub at Pessac-Bordeaux: we are aiming at targeted investment in order to strengthen our logistical and production capacities in aeronautical markets. The closeness of our new premises to the major market players enables us to strengthen existing collaborations and develop new ones, guaranteeing a prompt, high-quality response to our customers’ needs. We are determined to continue on this road in order to continually improve our operational efficiency and meet increasing demands from the sector. In addition, this choice shows the precise intent to grow our Spanish subsidiaries, on both the domestic and international markets. This strategic move confirms our commitment to taking up market opportunities and to maintaining our leadership as a key partner for the sector.”

Eduardo García Magro, General Manager at SCP SINTERSA, said: “Becoming part of the ALA Group has provided fresh energy and new prospects to our business. Just under two years on from the acquisition, we are proud to announce the opening of the new SCP SINTERSA plant in Seville, which follows the inauguration of the Italian branch a few months ago. The new Seville plant is an important achievement for SCP SINTERSA and a decisive step for our growth, with the expansion of production capacity and a new plant in the heart of our country’s aerospace and defence market. Moreover, Seville was also recently nominated as the base of the Spanish Space Agency, confirming the ongoing boost to the space sector in the Region.”

The Andalusian aerospace sector recorded turnover of € 2.3 billion in 2022, an increase of 17% compared to the previous year. With over 140 companies (88% are in the Seville and Cadiz corridor), Andalusia makes a significant contribution to the regional economy, representing 9.19% of industrial GDP. In addition, other provinces are also growing such as Malaga (11 companies), Córdoba (2 companies), Jaén (3 companies) and Huelva (1 company) thanks to the ATLAS UAV research centre in Villacarrillo (Jaén).
